bill-X continues to develop Digital Twins

7 Reading time, updated on 17.10.2024

bill-X is launching the development of an innovative compiler that will expand the functionalities of digital twins in ActiveDB.

This project, funded by the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM), is being implemented in collaboration with the University of Osnabrück and represents a promising step in the further development of this technology.

After reading this article, you’ll know

  • How digital twins can be given more autonomy
  • How companies benefit from this

1.

The project focuses on ActiveDB as the operating system for digital twins. It already offers various interfaces for integration and will be expanded with the new compiler.

The compiler fits into the existing structure and makes it possible to give digital twins more autonomy, thus extending their functions.

These functions, including complex logic, can be executed both in the ActiveDB – on-premise or in the cloud – and directly on embedded systems. Digital twins are thus able to process data and make decisions independently, while ActiveDB takes over central management and control.

2.

Ein großer Vorteil dieser Technologie ist, dass der Code sowohl auf lokalen Embedded Systemen als auch in der ActiveDB ausgeführt werden kann, ohne dass Unterschiede für den Anwender spürbar sind.

3.

Thanks to the new solution, companies can equip their digital twins with functions more easily without having to make complex adjustments for different platforms. Regardless of whether the ActiveDB runs on-premise or in the cloud, and regardless of whether the code is executed directly on embedded systems, the digital twins can be fully interacted with via a central ActiveDB.

4.

Looking into the future

With this project, bill-X is strengthening its role as a pioneer of digital transformation. The new technology offers companies a future-proof solution for the digital mapping of physical objects and processes. By combining ActiveDB with the new compiler, companies can also use their digital twins optimally for hard real-time requirements, resulting in greater efficiency and competitiveness.
